I’m an independent, self-trained, photojournalist. I have been working for the last twelve years in the areas of social injustice, the study of cultures and communities, and music. I seek out stories that range from the cost of blind development on our planet and population, to the struggle for basic rights of marginalized people and sexual minorities. I have also photographed hundreds of performances of international and Indian music legends, and an eclectic assortment of regional Indian folk and indie musicians.
In April 2015, I was given the Red Ink Award for Journalistic Excellence by the Mumbai Press Club in the photography category.
I have contributed to publications such as National Geographic Traveller, Yahoo! Originals, Tehelka, and Caravan, in print and online, using both a long form and reportage approach. I have been commissioned by Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Red Bull, and the Biocon Foundation, to name a few.
Had three solo exhibitions in Bangalore, won three Honourable Mentions in the 2012 Lucie Awards, and was selected in a group exhibit as part of an Asia festival at the Royal Ontario Museum, Canada.
Over the last 12 years, I have also worn the professional hats of media strategy advisor, radio jockey, web and print editor and musician.
Live in Bangalore, India.
Happy to travel anywhere.
